This policy applies to all information collected or submitted on Pinshard’s website and our apps for MacOS and any other devices and platforms.

Information we collect

Data is kept on your devices via a private iCloud database unique to each user. Data entered from within the MacOS app is not shared with third party services or sent to our own servers with the exception of crash data which may be sent to the third party service Bug Snag for fixing bugs.

We track anonymous usage of the website via GoatCounter. This includes page visits and referrals.

Technical basics

When you add a server provider account to Pinshard, the information you enter is stored in your private iCloud database. This includes your provider name, type, and personal access token.

Our website may also store basic technical information, such as your IP address, in temporary memory or logs. We may send technical logs related to bugs and crashes through the third party service Bug Snag.

iCloud

Pinshard may use Apple's iCloud service to store your preferences and various pinboard related data. We use the personal iCloud database so we do not view this information.

Netlify

For performance and overload protection, we direct website traffic through Netlify. They have access to some basic technical information to perform this role, such as your IP address.

BugSnag

For improving and the application we send crash reports with Stacktraces to BugSnag.

Analytics

Pinshard’s app does not collect general analytics.

Pinshard’s website collects anonymous data via the third-party service GoatCounter. Netlify may also collect usage data, consult the Netlify privacy policy for details.

Information usage

We use the information we collect to operate and improve our website, apps, and customer support.

We do not share personal information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to accomplish Pinshard’s functionality. We may share anonymous, aggregate statistics with outside parties, such as how many people have visited the website or how many people have downloaded the app.

We may disclose your information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.

In the future, we may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets.

Security

We implement a variety of security measures to help keep your information secure. For instance, all communication with the app and website requires HTTPS with certificate pinning.

We use Apple’s private iCloud database to store your app data which we do not have access to which keeps your data secure.

Accessing, changing, or deleting information

You may access delete your iCloud data by going to the accounts section of the Pinshard app and removing your accounts.

Pinshard may delete your information at any time and for any reason, such as technical needs, legal concerns, abuse prevention, removal of idle accounts, data loss, or any other reason.

Pinshard accesses third party APIs for each server provider (E.g. Digital Ocean) to retreive your account data. Each of these providers have their own privacy policies.

It is up to these providers to maintain stable and available APIs. If an API receives a breaking change then this may prevent Pinshard from being used to its full ability.

We never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13. Information for European Union Customers
